Idea developments:
During this weekend for personal research, l have found out a super interesting and meaningful event that’s created for the deaf and mute community. It is the very first club that was designed for the deaf people, where they can feel the music instead of listening. I consider it a very smart and meaningful idea, where it can help me to research special aspects of sound art.
Example artworks:
Cymatics using chladni plate (sandwav) – manipulating sound with sand
Vest design for deaf people to enjoy in live music performance, the tempo through vibration. This is how many deaf musicians learn music, they stand where the speakers or where the instruments vibrate, they can feel the music with their skin, where l want the sound to be visualized.
My final idea:
Want sound to be visualized – for the deaf and hard to hear community
Controlling wave – thread imitate the wave with music so the audience could walk around touching and feel the music, as well as visualized (healing environment) light coming from the ground (40 pounds is what been sponsored)
immersive sound installation + multichannel
when we considering disability community we usually consider designing items that focus on practicability, despite that helps them the most with their daily life we forgot about enjoyment was also part of our life essential
Plan for what l have to do:
Healing audio – to clarify what music l want for the show – the meaning for healing and the specific community
Installation examples – check examples to see which one is more suitable, this could be what can be built for the installation https://youtu.be/vNlMFX0pC6Y?si=Qhddd6g4XkNzY7a8
Techniques that is being using – speaker cone/core, super glue, wood box, wood stick, hook, connecting wire x2 , 插线(for connecting the laptop or the ipad), another connecting point. (all of them x4)
draw idea for settings ✓
Music that could allow the techniques to move in multi-channel, that can be presented separately (most frequency)
Next chapter question:
- How to connect everything with one device (not that much ipad?) (raspberry pi)
- How to connect the speaker cones to the wall?
- How to make music in multi-channel that can connect to multiple cones with one device?
Find ways to build my installation, can be built successfully, right now start to create my audio, however, Need some tech support
Placement: doesn’t need to be dark, but needs two walls that can be connected together, needs the room to be vertical, and one end can’t be accessed.
